Kids Need Camp!

I believe that kids need camp.
Here’s why…
A week at camp is more than just a fun escape — it’s a transformative experience of a lifetime that can shape a child’s life in lasting ways.
How is this possible? At Kidder, kids unplug from screens and step into adventure, friendship, and personal growth. Whether they’re conquering fears on the ropes course or rafting down a river and facing a challenge together with their cabin mates, campers build confidence and resilience through shared experiences and meaningful connections.
Recent studies explore how constant screen exposure, “safetyism,” and social media contribute to rising anxiety, isolation, loss of purpose and depression in kids. Camp offers a powerful antidote: real-life interactions with caring camp counselors, time in creation in a temporary community, and the freedom to play, explore and adventure. Lives are transformed as campers discover who God made them to be and their calling and purpose in this world.
At Kidder Creek, kids are challenged to step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and discover their strengths, they learn teamwork, empathy, and perseverance. The natural beauty of God’s creation fosters awe and gratitude. Time in God’s word in small group Bible studies lead by intentional camp counselors encourages spiritual growth. Time for reflection at campfire, in solo time or while hiking down the trail helps the lessons learned to stick.
The impact of a week at camp lasts long after camp ends. Kids return home more independent, emotionally resilient, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges through a faith that has deepened while at camp.
In a world where kids are more connected yet lonelier than ever, camp provides the connection, belonging, and adventure they truly need. Sending a child to camp isn’t just giving them a great summer — it’s equipping them for life.
Will you pray with me for all the campers and staff who will be at Kidder this summer? Pray that God will work in their lives in a powerful way, that they will see and grow closer to Jesus through their week at camp and that their lives will be transformed.
I look forward to sharing “Yay God!” stories with you soon!
