A Family Camp Miracle
Who’s the last person that you’d ever guess would be sharing their testimony at Victory Circle? I know I can think of mine right away.
If you had asked Sarah at the beginning of the summer who she was thinking of, she probably would have said her husband, Kion, a devoted father to their son and daughter and a devout atheist. Four years ago Sarah met Andrea at Bible Study Fellowship and their friendship developed. Andrea’s husband, Jonathan, serves on the board of Mount Hermon. Andrea and Jonathan had become friends with Sarah and Kion and they all decided to attend Family Camp together.
Despite his strong atheist beliefs, Kion wanted his wife and children to attend family camp and he was open to the experience. Kion started the week with the mind of skepic. He needed to understand the “science” behind it all.
By Wednesday, his mind was no longer blocking his heart. By Thursday, Kion and Sarah prayed for God to help him over the last step. By Friday morning, his son was asking questions about God and he was answering! At session that morning Kion started outside but when worship started, he told Sarah he needed to move closer and didn’t stop until the fifth row. As the tears flowed uncontrollably, he asked Jesus to become Lord and Savior of his life!
That night was his first Victory Circle. He was not aware of the sharing portion, but felt the call to share his story! The way Kion shared his testimony about God’s undeniable presence overwhelming him in an unexplainable way was amazing. Mount Hermon will forever hold a special place in his soul as being the starting line for his new life in Christ.
It’s a fresh reminder for me that nothing is impossible for God. And we are just honored to get a front row seat for this work He has been doing here all summer long!
Who is the friend that you think would never be sharing their testimony? Maybe we should challenge each other to invite them anyway.
