Projects with a Purpose

Since its beginning, Mount Hermon has remained faithful to the purpose of the ministry: transforming lives for Jesus Christ. Throughout my years of involvement at Mount Hermon, creating memories both as a staff member and also as a guest, I have had the honor of experiencing this deep purpose and meaning over and over again.

And though staff may come and go, and programs adapt to the change in culture, I appreciate the constant nature of the facilities at camp—purpose and meaning found in the buildings, grounds, and infrastructure. Recently my focus has shifted to seeking to ensure that the physical assets function safely and properly so that guests are safe, staff are happy, and programs can be successfully executed. As part of the Facility and Maintenance team, we have our work cut out for us! It seems that when one area of camp gets repaired or remodeled, another area needs attention. As we like to say around the office, “job security!”

I am happy to report on a few projects that we were able to address over the past several months as it brings great joy to celebrate the victory found in their completion!

Installation of new A/C units at the McAfee Fieldhouse and Williams Welcome Center
Complete overhaul of both shower houses at Redwood Camp
Remodeled restrooms in Aspen Dorm
Refurbished staff houses
New generators at Redwood Camp
Repaired septic systems
Restoring a closed well to increase water flow
New fences, roofs, decks, railings, trail repair, tree trimming, heat system repairs, striped roads and so much more!

The list of projects goes on in 2025… including the exciting start of fully remodeling our beloved Ponderosa Lodge cabins!
