Mount Hermon Adventures Race Team
Earlier this year Mount Hermon Adventures launched the “Mount Hermon Adventures Race Team” with the purpose of telling the story of Mount Hermon in the greater Bay Area race community and promoting healthy active lifestyles among our staff and guests. So far it’s been a roaring success! Over the past three months we’ve participated in the Tahoe Trail 100 Bike Race and the Race Through the Redwoods, a local 10k.
We had three racers in the Tahoe Trail 100: Doug Cline, Nate Pfefferkorn and John Ricketts. They were joined by several alumni and friends of Mount Hermon as well. The race is a grueling 100K mountain bike race in and around Northstar resort in Tahoe. We are proud to report that all three racers completed the event and qualified for the Leadville Traill 100 in Leadville Colorado for 2014! The Leadville race in Colorado is the big daddy of endurance mountain bike races and will require lots of hard work, training and dedication to finish. It has the distinction of being the highest bike race in the world, with most of the course over 12,000ft. Stay tuned for training updates and stories!
In the town of Felton, Mount Hermon’s backyard, we helped sponsor the 45th annual Race Through the Redwoods. We had several racers in the event: Mark Bradshaw, Steve Brown, Dan Dawson, Allison Pfefferkorn, and Josie Shafer. It is a tough trail course through the redwoods at Henry Cowell state park. All our racers were successful and many set PR’s during the day. We were also able to connect with many local families and friends through our race event booth and share stories about the Redwood Canopy Tour and upcoming Mount Hermon programs.
Check out the team’s webpage and calendar to see what upcoming events we will be attending and competing in. You can also join us at an event and race for Mount Hermon! Use the “Join the Team” link or contact Allison Pfefferkorn, race team manager, for more information. We look forward to seeing you out there!
