A Priceless Gift

A Priceless Gift

A Pricless Gift

During my single mom years, I remember writing my tithe check thinking to myself, “If I give this tithe, I won’t be able to pay my utility bill.” With trust I dropped it into the basket and whispered, “Let’s see how you’ll surprise me this month, Lord!”

Such is life for many single parents, sometimes the numbers don’t add up and finances are tight. We understand this reality and Mount Hermon never wants finances to stand in the way of anyone experiencing the life-changing power of Jesus Christ here at camp. So, in 2023 we were overjoyed to begin offering Single-Parent Camperships, specifically to bring single-parent families to Family Camp.

Last summer a single mom named Jessica, was blessed by a Single Parent Campership and was able to bring her three sons to camp.

Jessica shared, “Earlier this year I was able to register my family for Family Camp. What a blessing. The boys and I had not ventured away as a little family of four since they were all under three years old and still in diapers. Single moms understand. There is an isolation that comes with trauma and singleness—allowing the door that lies between you and the world to make you feel powerless and voiceless.
“The week before camp I was contemplating not going. The echo of isolation played out in my mind that I was not ready or prepared. But Jesus said, ‘Climb the mountain.’ Here I am, this single mom of three who has cried in the valley, prayed in the valley, praised in the valley, and danced in the valley now slowly driving up this mountain called Mount Hermon with her three sons who were gifted a glimpse of His face on the mountaintop saying, ‘You are loved.’”

Jessica’s story is a beautiful example of how Family Camp significantly impacts families. A huge “Thank you” to all who have supported the Single-Parent Campership Fund. Your support makes Mount Hermon a place for all to rest, restore and revitalize body, heart and soul.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest…”

If you were moved by Jessica’s story, prayerfully consider donating to the Campership Fund. Visit mounthermon.org/give to learn more.
