Cabins for Displaced Local Families

Cabins for Displaced Local Families
As of this morning the CZU Lightning Complex Fire is under relative containment. Although Mount Hermon is safe there have been more than 900 families in our local community that have lost their homes. The impact on our friends, neighbors, staff, teachers and more has been significant and will be long lasting.

Mount Hermon seeks to be a refuge for people in their times of need and a place where people can be refreshed and renewed by the Spirit of God. It is in times like these that we are called to share with those who are in need and we were encouraged and challenged by Psalm 3:27 when it says:

Never walk away from someone who deserves help;
your hand is God’s hand for that person.
Don’t tell your neighbor “Maybe some other time”
or “Try me tomorrow”
when the money’s right there in your pocket.

Mount Hermon is blessed with many cabins and homes that are used during “normal” times for our conference and retreat programs, but due to COVID-19 these cabins have been sitting dormant. It is with happy hearts that we’ve decided to suspend our recently launched “cabin rental” program for a time to make space to house families that have lost everything in the fires.

Working with our local churches, the San Lorenzo Valley School District and other help organizations we are in the process of contacting families in need of shelter to offer them a Mount Hermon cabin. We pray that Mount Hermon will be a shelter in the storm for these families and will create opportunities for us to share the love of Jesus tangibly in our community.

We are grateful for the blessings of the Lord in sparing Mount Hermon from the fire and for giving us the opportunity to minister to local families. Please join us in prayer for these families, that they would experience a peace the surpasses all understanding and that the Lord would supply for their needs.

If you want to help support our work locally your gift to our general fund allows us to put your gift to work where it is most needed. Thank you for your prayers and generosity!
